Stay on target...stay on target...

It's been a quiet week and a half here at the bungalow...and that's OK. We've just had too much going on. But I haven't lost track of things that need to be done. It's been brainstorming time, and here at the house, we've been brainstorming ways to solve the backyard flooding issue, brainstorming ways to get the painting and flooring done in the basement family room, and brainstorming ways to feel a heckuva lot better about the sewer main situation.

I've also been getting the gardening itch. Ever...so...slightly.

The good news is, I visited Menards and Home Depot today, and definitely found the laminate floor I want. Let's hope they still have it in stock tomorrow, when we'll probably go back to get it. It's EXACTLY what I want, on sale and everything. Plus, the no interest until 2010 is a big, big plus right now!

Also, at Home Depot, I took a gander at primer and paint colors, and I actually think I might have found some colors that I really like that seem to go together and may very well go with what we plan to move down there too! It's Behr paint though...any reviews from any of my regular readers out there? Have you had any problems with Behr? Gina and I, since moving in together, have used exclusively Benjamin Moore. But I've not been all that impressed, specifically, for the price. I mean, it's been fine, don't get me wrong...but it's not like it's been so above and beyond that I'm dying to use it over anything else.

So, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Behr paint. I'm looking at a darker color on the bottom half and a neutral on the top half.

I'm about to do some major interior painting. I hadn't painted in several years until I painted a closet recently. I got a supposedly good Sherwin Williams paint, and two coats of off white over white were really not enough to cover. If it hadn't been a closet, I would have done another coat.

So I'm interested in any info about paints that cover well. Thanks anybody.

Yeah, the warmth has got me thinking about buying a few bags of topsoil myself.

I haven't used the Behr paints, but I've used their Venetian plaster and have been pretty happy about it. We used it all over our condo, and five years later, it still looks great and when we had to patch a few spots it blended in. But I don't know if that speaks for the rest of their line.

We did just try another paint from Home Depot, a pale color from the environmentally friendly Fresh Aire line. It took two coats to cover a dry, thirsty wall. We're pretty happy with the results, but we've only used it in the closets so far.

I have had absolutely no problem with Behr paint and have used it extensively lately. Over in one of the DIY forums that I check out daily I am in the minority, but Behr works for me. I don't see a noticeable difference between Behr and Benjamin Moore which is the other brand that I use. They say Behr doesn't cover over well - I think that when it first came out, it may not have covered well, but I have had no problems.

Thanks everyone for sharing! I bought a gallon of new drywall primer from Behr today and white ceiling paint (also Behr). So I'm going to see how it goes...I'll let you all know. I figure I'll start with the white ceiling and get an idea. :)

Thanks Andy, I will be interested in hearing your opinion. I was in the DIY forum just this morning and folks were saying how inferior Behr paint is. As I said yesterday I like it. I am a handyman and not a painter, but I see no difference between Behr and Bejamin Moore, except the price

I've heard nothing but good reviews on Behr paint, though I typically use Valspar from Lowe's. Since you've already gone with Behr, please let us know what you think of it.

I'm curious to see how everything comes together...the linoleum, the paint colors, the furniture!
